Carsten has been involved in the Healthcare Industry since 1973. First as a Clinician in the military, and then as a Registered Respiratory Therapist since 1978. From 1978-1993, he taught a Respiratory Care Program for adults at Ohlone College. In 1993, he founded a verification company, which led to the founding of CYA in 1999.
Carsten continues to serve as CYA’s President, as well as Lead Trainer and Primary Code Consultant. He’s worked with medical gas systems for 40 years. Primarily on the West Coast, hundreds of healthcare facilities have called upon him to resolve many design, construction, and maintenance challenges involving medical gas piping systems.
Carsten is an active member of the Medical Gas Professional Healthcare Organization (MGPHO), and is the former VP of its Credentials Committee. He also served as Secretary/Treasurer of the California Society for Healthcare Engineering (CSHE), Northeastern Chapter.
